HOT NEWS! Tammy Moore (Pruitt)

We are moving again....this time we are going to be in Guam for possibly the next 3 or 4 years. The military is extending over sea's duty to save money. It is cheaper for them to keep everyone where they are then bring in new people that have to be trained. We will eventually move back to Rigby,Idaho as we love this little town and the wonderful, generous, patriotic people who live here....not to mention my Brother Jim and his Family. I will try to post pics and stories of our adventures along the way...please keep in touch ( we will ) and keep us in your prayers...Love You All.........Tammy

love a challenge

Saw this on tv and looked it up on the Internet. Paula Deen's Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps

Ingredients:

1 (1 pound) package sliced bacon

1 1/4 lb boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (about 4 breasts)

2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

2 tablespoon chili powder

Preheat oven to 350. Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. Cut each bacon slice into thirds. Wrap each chicken cube with bacon and secure with a wooden pick. Stir together brown sugar and chili powder. Dredge wrapped chicken in mixture. Coat a rack and broiler pan with non-stick cooking spray. Place chicken on rack in broiler pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes until bacon is crisp.

12-15 appetizer servings

Tired of BLTs...try this

8 slices multigrain bread 1/4 cup apricot preserves

8 oz. sliced deli ham 1 round (8oz) Brie cheese, rind removed and cut into four

slices

3 Tbsp. butter, softened

Spread four bread slices with half of preserves. Layer with hand and cheese. Spread remaining bread with remaining preserves. Place on top. Butter outsides of sandwiches.

In a large skillet over medium heat, toast sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side or until bread is lightly browned and cheese is melted.

Chinese country-style pork ribs

4 lbs. bone-in country style pork ribs (1-1/2 in thick) 1/2 cup water

1 Tbsp. Liquid-Smoke, optional 1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 cup chili sauce 1/4 cup hoisin sauce

2 Tbsp. honey 1/8 tsp. cayenne paper

Place the ribs, water, Liquid smoke if desired and onion powder in a 3-qt. microwave safe dish. Cover and microwave on high for 15-20 minutes or until meat is tender.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduced heat: simmer, uncovered, for 5-8 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.

Coat grill rack with cooking spray before starting the grill. Drain ribs. Grill ribs, covered, over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side or until browned, basting with sauce and turning occasionally.

Linda's Famous Taco Recipe.

OK, Everyone, here it is, my taco recipe:

1 lb. of Hamburger
1/2 chopped onion
garlic powder
dried onions
ground cumin
1 packet of Sazon Goya (If you cannot find this in your grocery store, I have the address of where to order them. I love them.
a dash of Worcestershire sauce (to taste)
natures seasoning
sometimes I put chopped green onion or a small can of mild green chilies
lettuce, tomatoes, and chopped onions

Now the Hubbards all love Velveta cheese (I know I didn't spell it right, but neither did my spell checker)
The rest of us use regular cheese most of the time but we use both.

If this was just a joke Jack try it, it is good.

Something I didn't know

Hello All: Today I went to Safeway at Lunch and donated to The American Legion Auxiliary for a red crepe paper poppy. The women handed me a peice of paper explaining the poppy so I thought I would share it with you.

The red crepe paper poppy, replica of the Flanders Poppy, was officially adopted in 1921 as the Memorial Flower of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Through the years it has become the symbol of the dead - their memorial flower.
The rec crepe paper poppy is hand-made exclusively but hospitalized veterans of World Wars, Korean Was, Vietnam War, Grenada/Lebanon and Panama conflicts, and the PersianGulf War. It is made of paper to give the veteran a maximum amount of work and income. IN MANY CASES THE INCOME DERIVED FROM THIS SOURCE CONSTITUTES THE ONLY INCOME OF THAT HOSPITALIZED VETERAN.
Each year volunteer works, members of the American Legion Auxiliary, offer these poppies to the public, to be worn by them on Memorial Day, so that they may pay tribute to the Nation's honored war dead.
All contributions made by the public are used by the American Legion Auxiliary exclusively for the welfare of the needy veterans and their families throughout the state of California.

So if you see someone offering the red crepe paper poppy please pick one up.

Thanks, Susan G. Thomas

The Vacationing Hubbard's

Up on a mountain, looking over Boulder Bay. The weather was perfect for our hike. Jamilee has red hair, Ally is in the middle, and Hanna on the end. Our dog, Emma, climbed up the mountain with us. This was not a little hill. It was the mountain range between the lake and the Las Vegas valley floor.
We went out to the East mountains of the Las Vegas valley to see if we could find the wild horses. Lot of fun, but, no luck.

We went visited the LDS temple in Las Vegas. It was both beautiful and incredible.

We stayed in Henderson, NV for several days. No we did not hit the stip. Anyway, we watched movies, played games, went hiking, swimming, and we were able to travel South to see mom--Linda Sumner. It was a relaxing and enjoyable time with our girls.

TAX TIME

I really, really hate April 15. Seldom are we ready and usually get an extension until about October. Speaking of taxes, I came across this article and wanted to share with everybody.
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Taxes/HomeMortgageSavings/6AuditRedFlags.aspx

One of the suggestions is "Keep your mouth shut!"
You've got a big mouth
Never brag about how you put one over on the IRS.
Internal Revenue Service whistle-blowers can earn rewards of 15% to 30% of the additional tax collected, including fines, penalties and interest. Scofflaws can be reported by filing

Ally's 16th Birthday

Ally's 16th birthday. She had school, violin and ballet lessons on her birthday. Yes, the other two are Jan and me. By the way, Ally turned 16 last month. She is now dating and having fun with this new aspect of her life. So far, so good. James-DAD
P.S. One date was 15 minutes late in getting her home, around 11:15PM-- we live 30 minutes outside of the city. He had to drop off a friends date, so that both guys could drop Ally off. I love the concept of group dating and no one on one stuff. Anyway, the date called me to inform me of the situation. Ally, later said he was scared to death I would kill him. The boys these days are so perceptive. :o)

Ally Hubbard Prom Night

Ally, just coming home from the 2009 Weber High School Prom. I think Jan, her mother, had as much fun as Ally in getting ready for this night. However, somethings never change. Ally, is as modest as they get. She never wares a dress without pants or knee-high shorts underneath. I had a picture to share everyone, but, for whatever the reason, it will not load. If I can figure it out, I will post it later.

Linda's Famous "Spaghetti Recipe"

OK Everyone. Finally, here it is, my mother's spaghetti recipe. We were trying to see if we could find a picture--no such luck. If you haven't tried this, I highly recommend it. Bon Appétit! James-Utah

Spaghetti Recipe
1 pound of dry spaghetti- cook as directed on package
1/4 bell pepper chopped small- can use more or less if you want to
approx. 5 green onions (chopped with green part)
1 small can of sliced olives
1/4 cucumber sliced and then cut in half
1 tomato, cut in small pieces
1 stalk of celery cut up small
1 envelope of Good Seasoning Italian dressing, made as directed on package. I have made it in a hurry and used the dressing from a bottle you buy from the store but I like the Good Seasoning better

Make the dressing first and put it in the refrigerator to help it mix. Cook spaghetti and rinse in cold water. Cut up all of the other ingred. and put all in bowl and mix. Add just enough dressing to cover. Right before serving check dressing and add more if need. I usually need to add more as the spaghetti sucks it up. don't add to much dressing as you just want to flavor it not let it swim in it. I you want to add more or less or the veggies you can do so.

Grandpa Thomas a Hero

Not sure if everyone remembers this or not but Grandpa Thomas chased every fire truck and ambulance he heard or saw…loved the action I guess..
Anyway this was printed in the paper in Buena Park..not sure what date and year but guess you can figure out from his age.…Thought everyone would get a kick out of it.

L.B. Man Outruns Death in Halting Driverless Car
A 49 year-old Long Beach man ran a footrace with death Sunday in Buena Park. Police later
Credited him with possibly saving a life.
Nelson H. Thomas, owner o the Virnel Machine Shop in Paramount at 6 p.m. Sunday heard a crash in the street near where he was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Diane Pruitt, 8362 Whitaker Ave. Buena Park.
Thomas saw a sedan traveling slowly along the wrong side of the road, its driver slumped unconscious across the lap of his woman passenger.
He ran after the car, overtook it, reached in and turned off the ignition key. The car, in gear, came to a halt.
The unconscious driver, Edward Cecil Walkinson, 51, of 4260 Lakewood Blvd. a Douglas Aircraft Co. tool attendant, was taken from the car to Beach Community Hospital, where physicians pronounced him dead, victim of a heart attack.
His wife, Flossie, the passenger, physically handicapped since childhood by polio, had been helpless to control the car after he collapsed.
Motorcycle Office Gene Shields credited Thomas with preventing a possible second tragedy by halting the runaway car, which had veered back into traffic lanes after hitting a curb and a pole. Mrs. Watkinson escaped serious injury. She was treated for shock.

Kids Names

hummm I tried to comment under your post, Susan, but for some reason there was an error. Ronnie is a junior, so that is a no brainer. But Cary is another story. I was so sure he was gonna be a girl, that I didn't have a boys name picked out. Well, I had a ceasarian (sp) section and was out while he was born. Not "out" like outside, but drugged. I woke up after having him and none of the nurses would tell me whether it was a boy or girl. I guess I had told them all I was having a girl. I finally was able to call mom and she said "you had to go and have another boy, didn't you!" dang! now what, talk about a man named Sue! I can't remember the girl's name I had picked out, but I had to make a decision as I was about to get out of the hospital and they wanted a name, preferably a male type name. Well, while I was sleeping the last night in the hospital I woke up and saw the nurses name, Cariasu. That's it Cary and I'll name him after my dad. So it was Cary Nelson, this is where I didn't think things through. His last name is Hansen. It might have been a problem, but he seems well adjusted

Book Review and Recommendation

Another idea! Does anyone have a book, they have read, that they can recommend to other viewers? If so, please post the title and a brief comment. I will take the recommendations and post them in a special box on the left hand side of the blog, just under the Archive area. In this way we can get some great ideas of materials to avoid and materials that are a must to read. For example, has anyone read the book, The Anatomy of Peace? No, it is not political. It was written by the Arbinger Institute. This book breaks down why people think and feel the way they do. Its premise is that if we can understand this process we can change the way we interact and thus better communicate between mothers and fathers, children, boses, governments and different cultures. It is a short read, but, as relivant as a read can be. In fact if you check Amazon, it rates 5 out of 5. By the way, the authors uses "story" or "situational" type format to make their points. This is not a boring "referance" type book. In fact, if I remember correctly, the book is only around a 100 pages or so. Enjoy and let me know what you think. James-Utah
